Yes, it is true!  For every $1.00 donated Second Harvest Food Bank can provided $9.00 worth of food.  That is really amazing.

Other facts:

• 60% of families using the San Francisco Food Bank have at least one employed adult in their household
• Seniors who get food from the San Francisco Food Bank have an average monthly income of $933 in area with one of the highest cost of living in the U.S.
• Half of all food distributed is fresh, nutritious fruits and vegetables.
